Each year we play in the Holiday Series at the old Courthouse in St. Louis. This photo shows our view of the Christmas Tree and the rotunda as we play. This year (2007) the hall was again packed full and we noticed many familiar faces in the audience. Among them was our old friend Renee Robinson with her enthusiastic and ever-so-helpful assistant, Irie, one of whom took this picture. In the center of the rotunda sits the amazing Christmas tree, abundantly decorated in 19th-century style decorations to compliment our choice of music. As many seats as the Park Service can stuff onto the floor are all full and faces line the railings of the ascending floors. The sound is quite good. It is all very festive.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

This is from our newest CD "Merry Christmas from the Gateway Brass Quintet".

Bist du bei mir

If you are with me, then I will gladly go
to my death and to my rest.
Ah, how satisfying will my end be,
for your dear, fair hands will shut
my faithful eyes!

La Réjouissance

From "Music for the Royal Fireworks" by Handel.

First performed (but not by the Gateway Brass Quintet, as some have contended)

April 27, 1749 in London, to celebrate the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle.
