A Musical Journey with Brass
An entertaining and informative international musical journey The quintet's performance will transport young students from the 16th century to the present; from Italy, Germany & France to Russia, England and Spain; from Handel & Rossini to Tchaikovsky & Bizet before landing safely in America (Sousa, Joplin, Handy - even Chuck Berry!) with more than a hint of how we got here musically. Skilled narrator Kathy Lawton Brown adds cultural and social context as well as several short vocal selections to fill out the musical palette. During the performance, the musicians introduce and talk about their instruments. This includes a brief history of each instrument and a demonstration of how each instrument works. Students are encouraged to ask questions in an interactive environment less formal than the usual concert hall setting.
